The formula is not public knowledge and this is done with the blessing of the Federal Trade Commission.

The average credit rating for an American today is 720. Basically, the higher your credit rating is, the more credit worthy you are and the less problem you’ll have obtaining credit and loans. However, there are also many, many people with credit scores that fall below the 630 mark which means they are a credit risk and are likely to be denied credit just because of this rating.

Now lenders often know that things happen in life that can’t be avoided. If your low credit rating is due to excessive medical bills or life-altering events that reflect poorly on your credit report, you may be able to talk with them and provide documentation and still get approved. That’s why it’s important to monitor your credit report and attach notes to explain anything that reflects poorly against you.

It’s vital that you keep your credit rating as high as possible. That can be done by simply paying your bills on time, not overspending, not carrying a lot of credit card debt, and being sensible when it comes to buying things on credit. You should also check your credit report on at least an annual basis to make sure there are no mistakes on it. One error can bring your score down dramatically.

While some don’t like the idea of their whole financial history being scaled down to one three digit number, but in the financial world, the credit rating does rule the awarding of credit. If you want to buy a home or a car or even secure a line of credit on a credit card, you will have to have a credit rating of at least 675 if not higher.

Take steps today to raise your credit rating. Then when you need important things in life, you’ll have no problems.

Your credit rating is very important when you need to obtain credit for something important and if you have a negative on your credit report you will want to remove it as soon as possible. Just one mistake can make a huge difference in your overall credit rating, so you will want to know how to go about removing that negative so your credit rating can rise.

The first thing you need to do is pull a copy of all three of your credit reports – one from each credit reporting bureau. Then check out the information that is one each of those three reports. If you do find an error, you need to take steps to have those errors corrected and removed. Here’s how to remove a negative entry on your credit report to raise your credit rating

All three of the credit reporting companies have online forms that you can complete when you have a negative entry on your credit report. Don’t use these forms. It’s much easier to just gather your information proving that the negative is incorrect and write a letter to the credit bureau. Documentation can be a receipt showing payment was made, a bill showing a negative balance, or a letter from the creditor saying that the bill has, indeed, been settled.

Then send your letter to the credit bureau via certified mail with a return receipt requested so you know the bureau did receive your letter. They will review your information and notify you of their decision. If it is in your favor, you will once again, need to get a copy of your credit report so you can verify that the negative has been removed.

If you have a negative credit rating right now, there’s no way that you can completely erase that negative. What you can do, however, is take steps to raise it. How do you remove a negative credit rating? Please know that it will take time and effort on your part, but the first thing to do is to take steps to pay down your credit card debt and make any other payments on a timely basis.

You may want to look into a debt consolidation loan so that you pay off your old creditors. The advantage to this is that you will be making just one payment to one company instead of multiple payments to multiple companies. Plus, it will reflect positively on your credit report and show that you are taking steps toward removing your negative credit rating and trying to raise your credit score through smart financial practices.

There’s not much to know when it comes to knowing how to remove a negative credit rating. It just takes time and common sense!

Hubble Spies Charming Spiral Galaxy Bursting with Stars

The NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope observes some of the most beautiful galaxies in our skies — spirals sparkling with bright stellar nurseries, violent duos ripping gas and stars away from one another as they tangle together, and ethereal irregular galaxies that hang like flocks of birds suspended in the blackness of space.

However, galaxies, like humans, are not all supermodels. This little spiral, known as NGC 4102, has a different kind of appeal, with its tightly-wound spiral arms and understated, but charming, appearance.

NGC 4102 lies in the northern constellation of Ursa Major (The Great Bear). It contains what is known as a LINER, or low-ionization nuclear emission-line region, meaning that its nucleus emits particular types of radiation — specifically, emission from weakly-ionized or neutral atoms of certain elements. Even in this sense, NGC 4102 is not special; around one third of all nearby galaxies are thought to be LINER galaxies.

Many LINER galaxies also contain intense regions of star formation. This is thought to be intrinsically linked to their centers but just why, is still a mystery for astronomers — either the starbursts pour fuel inwards to fuel the LINERs, or this active central region triggers the starbursts. NGC 4102 does indeed contain a starburst region towards its center, where stars are being created at a rate much more furious than in a normal galaxy. This star formation is taking place within a small rotating disk, around 1000 light-years in diameter and with a mass some three billion times the mass of the sun.

Galactic Pyrotechnics on Display (NASA, Chandra, 07/02/14)

A galaxy about 23 million light years away is the site of impressive, ongoing fireworks. Rather than paper, powder and fire, this

galactic light show involves a giant black hole, shock waves and vast reservoirs of gas.

This galactic fireworks display is taking place in NGC 4258, also known as M106, a spiral galaxy like the Milky Way. This galaxy is

famous, however, for something that our galaxy doesn’t have – two extra spiral arms that glow in X-ray, optical and radio light. These

features, or anomalous arms, are not aligned with the plane of the galaxy, but instead intersect with it.

The anomalous arms are seen in this new composite image of NGC 4258, where X-rays from NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observatory are blue, radio

data from the NSF’s Karl Jansky Very Large Array are purple, optical data from NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope are yellow and infrared

data from NASA’s Spitzer Space Telescope are red.

A new study made with Spitzer shows that shock waves, similar to sonic booms from supersonic planes, are heating large amounts of gas –

equivalent to about 10 million suns. What is generating these shock waves? Researchers think that the supermassive black hole at the

center of NGC 4258 is producing powerful jets of high-energy particles. These jets strike the disk of the galaxy and generate shock

waves. These shock waves, in turn, heat the gas – composed mainly of hydrogen molecules – to thousands of degrees.

The Chandra X-ray image reveals huge bubbles of hot gas above and below the plane of the galaxy. These bubbles indicate that much of

the gas that was originally in the disk of the galaxy has been heated and ejected into the outer regions by the jets from the black

hole.

The ejection of gas from the disk by the jets has important implications for the fate of this galaxy. Researchers estimate that all of

the remaining gas will be ejected within the next 300 million years – very soon on cosmic time scales – unless it is somehow

replenished. Because most of the gas in the disk has already been ejected, less gas is available for new stars to form. Indeed, the

researchers used Spitzer data to estimate that stars are forming in the central regions of NGC 4258, at a rate which is about ten times

less than in the Milky Way galaxy.

The European Space Agency’s Herschel Space Observatory was used to confirm the estimate from Spitzer data of the low star formation

rate in the central regions of NGC 4258. Herschel was also used to make an independent estimate of how much gas remains in the center

of the galaxy. After allowing for the large boost in infrared emission caused by the shocks, the researchers found that the gas mass is

ten times smaller than had been previously estimated.

Because NGC 4258 is relatively close to Earth, astronomers can study how this black hole is affecting its galaxy in great detail. The

supermassive black hole at the center of NGC 4258 is about ten times larger than the one in the Milky Way and is consuming material at

a faster rate, potentially increasing its impact on the evolution of its host galaxy.

These results were published in the June 20, 2014 issue of The Astrophysical Journal Letters and are available online. The authors are

Patrick Ogle, Lauranne Lanz and Philip Appleton from the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, California.

Hubble Sees a “Behemoth” Bleeding Atmosphere Around a Warm Exoplanet

Astronomers using NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope have discovered an immense cloud of hydrogen dubbed “The Behemoth” bleeding from a planet orbiting a nearby star. The enormous, comet-like feature is about 50 times the size of the parent star. The hydrogen is evaporating from a warm, Neptune-sized planet, due to extreme radiation from the star.

This phenomenon has never been seen around an exoplanet so small. It may offer clues to how other planets with hydrogen-enveloped atmospheres could have their outer layers evaporated by their parent star, leaving behind solid, rocky cores. Hot, rocky planets such as these that roughly the size of Earth are known as Hot-Super Earths.

“This cloud is very spectacular, though the evaporation rate does not threaten the planet right now,” explains the study’s leader, David Ehrenreich of the Observatory of the University of Geneva in Switzerland. “But we know that in the past, the star, which is a faint red dwarf, was more active. This means that the planet evaporated faster during its first billion years of existence because of the strong radiation from the young star. Overall, we estimate that it may have lost up to 10 percent of its atmosphere over the past several billion years.”
